I just compiled a new kernel and now I have some errors on bootup. I'm sure
there is probably some documentation on this somewhere on this but I can't
seem to find it.
Here's what I'm getting:
Finding module dependencies
*** Unresolved symbols in module /lib/modules/2.0.18/misc/ipx.o
*** Unresolved symbols in module /lib/modules/2.0.18/net/bsd_comp.o
*** Unresolved symbols in module /lib/modules/2.0.18/net/de4x5.o
*** Unresolved symbols in module /lib/modules/2.0.18/net/dummy.o
*** Unresolved symbols in module /lib/modules/2.0.18/net/tulip.o
These are all items that were previously compiled as modules in the kernel
but now I've removed them entirely from the kernel.
A little frather down I get these error messages:
Oct 30 19:08:22 insmod: register_snap_client: wrong version or unidentified
Oct 30 19:08:22 insmod: skb_copy_datagram_iovez: wrong version or unidentified
Oct 30 19:08:22 insmod: register_8022_client: wrong version or unidentified
etc...
etc...
... a whole crapload more here ...
Oct 30 19:08:22 insmod: Loading failed! The module symbols (from
linux-2.0.18) don't match your linux-2.0.18
Oct 30 19:08:22 modprobe: Can't locate module net_pf_5
This stuff repeats itself about 3 or 4 times then the kernel finishes
booting and everything seems to work fine.
Is there any documentation on this. I did a make modules and a make
modules_install after compiling the kernel.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mac
