Kyle,

I had this exact problem one time. My main drive used to be a WD
Caviar at 1.2 Gig. The ontrack disk manager was the way to go for me,
in win3.1. then it was only a 16-bit driver, so it gave me fits with
beta copies of w95. so I found a 32-bit tsr for it, but that did not
work too well when I wanted to run linux.

I searched and searched, and called Western Digital themselves, and
the only way I could save my data was to back it up. I could not get
rid of the ontrack overlay unless I just _GOT RID_ of it, and
reformatted with a decent OS. I had to get an EIDE I/O card, under
100 bux. Then I could work with the drive in all OSes, not just lame
excuses.

btw, you have your ratios backwards. I started out with 300M for
linux, and 1.3G for dos. Well, I ran out of Linux space, so I started
over with 1000M for Linux, and 600 M for dos. Now I have 1.7G for
linux and ~~ 300 M for DOS. I think that will just be for dosemu and
wine/wabi stuff.

does anyone have any information on the wabi for linux?

hth,
Rob

Subject: Large IDE with On Track overlay?? How????
Message-Id: <s2776681.082@AFGWC.OFFUTT.AF.MIL>

I've read the large IDE mini-howto and I'm thouroughly confused. Can
someone please describe how to configure a Western Digital 1.2 GB hd
for use with BOTH Linux and DOS? I would like to have about 300M for
Linux and 900M for DOS. How do I do this without bumping into the DOS
barrier of 500 +/- meg? I have the OnTrack Drive Manager software, but
it seems to be incompatible with linux. Help? Thanks.
Kyle Burris
