Greetings,
I am having an interesting problem with Netscape that someone can
hopefully help out with. I run Redhat Linux 2.1 (kernel 1.2.13) under
the CND 1.0. I connect to my provider using dip -t with the following
commands:
port /dev/cua1
speed 38400
default
reset
dial <number>
term
<user name>
<password>
After connecting I fire up pppd with the following command line:
pppd /dev/cua1 38400 defaultroute crtscts
This seems to work fine. I connect and can use telnet, ftp, lynx,
Ishmail, etc. However, when I execute Netscape it sometimes locks up my
entire system. Not always, but maybe 1 out of 5 times. Anyone
experiencing a similar problem? I have read the FAQ on ppp, the pppd
man page, Running Linux, etc. and cannot find any errors in my
connection method. Netscape was installed as an RPM from Caldera and is
a non-expiring version and I have verified all directory locations and
network settings. Anyone have any suggestions?
Eric
