I use a package called matlab.sty for my eps and ps figures. It was
written to insert matlab plots, but works well with any .(e)ps type
files. It has nice scaling parameters that are issued in inches as in
\matlab{3.5in}{file.eps}
THe files matlab.sty can be found in the CTAN archives. It works reall
nice and easy with both LaTeX2e and LaTeX2.1 (or what ever the old
version is)
