It shouldn't be necessary as a general rule.  Most Solaris admins
know nothing about it, yet PAM has been used in Solaris since
something like Solaris 2.3...

If it isn't pamified, you don't need to touch /etc/pam.conf.  However,
if it isn't pamified, you are limited to using authentication
methods supported by the popper.
