You only showed the *first half* of the solution. Of course, removing
the login, rsh, rlogin, and rexec entries will disable login, rsh, rlogin,
and rexec.
You need to also follow the second half of the solution, as shown in
the errata:
>Upgrade to the following packages:

> Intel:
> pam-0.50-20.i386.rpm
> util-linux-2.5-28.i386.rpm
> NetKit-B-0.08-7.i386.rpm
> Alpha:
> pam-0.50-20.axp.rpm
> util-linux-2.5-28.axp.rpm
> NetKit-B-0.08-7.axp.rpm
> SPARC:
> pam-0.50-20.sparc.rpm
> util-linux-2.5-28.sparc.rpm
> NetKit-B-0.08-7.sparc.rpm
That will put the correct entries back in to your /etc/pam.conf file
automatically.
