Well, I found the program xplaycd, which appears to be what I want
but I still can't get sound to work:
I tried the `cat /dev/sndstat` that was suggested. That responded
with something like 'No such file...'. So I spent all day yesterday,
trying to recompile my kernel with soundcard support with no success.
Presently, it just hexdumps during boot.

Which kernel flags should I use with Soundblaster16? Do I need things
like Midi, and Low Level Sound Support?
Does anyone have a kernel that I can ftp, with PPP and SoundBlaster16
support enabled (and little else other than the default configuration)?

In the default kernel that comes with 4.0, were any parts compiled
as modules, if so which? Does a command exist that I can figure this
out my self?
Can/should the Sound be compiled in as a module? If so, does anyone
have a Soundblaster16 module that I can ftp?

                                                 Thanks in advance:
                                                 Michael J. Yanowitz
