I found after upgrading to Colgate from Rembrandt using the 2940 kernel from
the updates, that I could not access the network. The network configuration
screen showed that the various IP addresses were correct. It also showed me
that the ethernet connection eth0 was inactive. When I activated this, I was
unable to save the new configuration. Could this be that it is failing to
recognize the ethernet card -- a 3com 3c590 (vortex) card? I ask since the
upgrade script does not give one the oportunity to specify the ethernet card.
