I have experienced similar problems with Metro-X and have gone back to
using XFree. Frankly, it seems that the quality of Metro-X doesn't come
close to that of Accelerated-X (or even XFree). I wouldn't be surprised
if their sales have plunged since Xinside started, which might be why they
worked the deal with Red Hat.

One of the big things for me that is missing from Metro-X and XFree is
support for 24bpp displays (they only have 32bpp). This keeps me from
running TrueColor at 1280x1024 w/4MB. I think I will be buying
Accelerated-X soon. Strange as it may seem, Red Hat's inclusion of
Metro-X might be improving sales of Accelerated-X. I just wish they would
lower their prices a little. Also, I wonder why Xinside stopped
advertising in Linux Journal.

Tony.
