I have RedHat 3.0.3 and several months ago I had to go and upgrade
my kernel and some associated libraries. I didn't bother going through
the redhat distribution for it, but just pulled down the files and
compiled them and installed them myself. I'm not even sure it was
available at the time through RedHat. At any rate, it looks like
my RPM databases no longer reflect reality because when I try to
install rpm-2.2.7 it says:

failed dependencies:
        libc.so.5 is needed by rpm-2.2.7-1
        libz.so.1 is needed by rpm-2.2.7-1
        libdb.so.2 is needed by rpm-2.2.7-1

And yet I have libc.so.5 and libdb.so.2 (okay, I don't have libz.so.1).

Is there a reasonable way I can catch up rpm to the state of things as
they are now?

Many Thanks!
