I believe I have booted using loadlin after rebuilding the kernel and
copying the vmlinuz file over to my dos partition.
Another thing I have done is take one of the kernel images from
slackware and booted into a RH partition from it.
Also I have taken the kernel pointed to by "autoboot.bat" in the
dosutils directory and use loadlin to boot into linux with it. If you
pass parameters to the kernel on the loadlin execution line, you can get
around whatever the kernel had been told was its root drive.
