  With no network connectivity, it appeared named was the culprit. It was
the one printing all of the error messages that I could see on the screen.
I had the latest one (I thought) version 4.9.7.  I re-installed RH 5.1 and
reupdated named.  this appears to have cured the problem.  After I get the
other updates, I'll install them also.

  I would have updated to 5.2, but even though I'm on the subscription
program, I have not gotten my 5.2 yet.  It appears ordering from linuxmall
is cheaper and faster.
