Hey,

	this could mean sevral things. Like, for one, maybe the user U are 
using doesn't hava a valid shell. Or, It could be that you changed your 
machine name to a name that doesn't hava a valid IP adress. Maybe the 
machine name you gave it isn't in /etc/hosts.

	This happened to me in my first few weeks in the linux world. What I 
did, is I chanded localhost to my machine name in /etc/hosts and I set 
my new machine name in /etc/HOSTNAME then I typed hostname <my new 
machine name>.

	Maybe if you tried to put it back to localhost, it might also work.
