Hi,
Just two days ago I connected to the internet through a new dial-up
network here in Spain called InfoVia Plus, and pppd constantly writes
the following lines. The only thing I changed from my previous ppp
configuration is the phone number to which I call. The logs are like
this:
Dec 3 17:27:27 localhost pppd[477]: rcvd [LCP EchoReq id=0xcc 00 04 d2
ee]
Dec 3 17:27:27 localhost pppd[477]: sent [LCP EchoRep id=0xcc 00 00 fa
ff]
Dec 3 17:27:31 localhost pppd[477]: rcvd [LCP EchoReq id=0x1c 00 04 d2
ee]
Dec 3 17:27:31 localhost pppd[477]: sent [LCP EchoRep id=0x1c 00 00 fa
ff]
Dec 3 17:27:35 localhost pppd[477]: rcvd [LCP EchoReq id=0x6c 00 04 d2
ee]
Dec 3 17:27:35 localhost pppd[477]: sent [LCP EchoRep id=0x6c 00 00 fa
ff]
Dec 3 17:27:39 localhost pppd[477]: rcvd [LCP EchoReq id=0xbc 00 04 d2
ee]
Dec 3 17:27:39 localhost pppd[477]: sent [LCP EchoRep id=0xbc 00 00 fa
ff]
Dec 3 17:27:43 localhost pppd[477]: rcvd [LCP EchoReq id=0xc 00 04 d2
ee]
Dec 3 17:27:43 localhost pppd[477]: sent [LCP EchoRep id=0xc 00 00 fa
ff]
... etc, etc ...
It writes these messages every one second or so.
What is the remote server doing? And what is my computer replying?
Thanx,
Leo
