another mouse problem

Hi,
I'm sorry for this question because i've already seen several mails
concerning this problem, but the list archive search engine doesn't seem to
work ok today. The problem is :
i'm using a dx2 66 with RH 5.0
the mouse is detected (i've launched mouseconfig several times), works ok
with mc, but when i launch startx (i'm using fvwm2) then i can't move the
mouse or just a very very little : i mean the mouse is responding but i
can't really say it works : it doesn't seem to do anything while clicking
and doesn't really move. As i've heard the problem may come from gpm, i've
killed gpm, but same problem. I've of course checked if it works ok on
%=B5=A3$95, it does. As it is written microsoft on it, i've declared it as a
microsoft compatible mouse in mouseconfig.=20
What may be the problem ?

PS : i've already installed RH 5 on this box once and there was no problem
