I'm still a reletive newbie, so my advice doesn't count for that much,
but I had the same problem. The only way I found to get dosemu to boot
was to set it up to boot directly off my dos partition instead of the
hdimage. There's probably a reason no to do this, but I know on my
machine at least, it fixed everything.
