Hey,
I've compiled and used 2.1.128 for a few weeks now, and I ran throw a
problem similar to yours. I am the type of guy who loves having
everything in modules.
So I've put everything I possibly could in modules. There is a big
catch though. There are two types of ide drivers now. The new and the
old one. Make sure that at least one is not in modules, because, linux
needs to mount your drive to load the module to mount your drive (you
can see an infinite loop coming up here now can you.... joke).
Anyway that's what happened to me, maybe you did the same mistake. Hope
