Umm... are you SURE you want to upgrade your kernel from 2.0.36-.7 to 1.0??
I'm running 2.0.33 and I'm quite happy with it. Is there something
specifically wrong with .7 that has been fixed on 1.0?
I've been running Linux since 0.97, and one thing I've found out is that
it's a waste of time to upgrade every time there's a new version out. Get a
kernel that works, and stay with it, until there's a significant reason to
upgrade (say, maybe 2.2.x?)
