If it only shows a CPU 0, then you don't have SMP support compiled into your
kernel. To enable it you need to edit /usr/src/linux/Makefile and uncomment
the line (near the beginning) "SMP = 1" Then reconfigure and recompile your
kernel, to enable SMP support.
I noticed in one of your other responses that you don't have APM, but you're
planning on replacing the motherboard. When you replace the motherboard, it
is HIGHLY recommended that you do NOT enable APM in the kernel or on the
motherboard if you're compiling for SMP capability.
