At school, I like to use pine as my telnet mail and newsgroup client on
the unix system. Our newsserver tends to be spotty and on those
occasions when it is down and I telnet in to use pine it then takes
FOREVER for pine to open up so that I can check my email - all because it
cannot connect to the newsserver. Is there a way that I can set up pine
so that it checks the newsserver a few times or for a certain period of
time, afterwhich it will allow me access to my mail inbox? I would like
it to not depend upon the newsserver being up such that it significantly
delays me from getting to my email.
