Sendmail was probably trying to figure out its hostname. Try add an entry to
your DNS record.

Subject: Sendmail timeout

When starting my linux machine using RH5.2, at startup it hangs on:
starting Sendmail:

for a minute or more. Does anyone know what may be happening?

What is the best way to disable sendmail? I know I can go into:
/etc/sysconfig/sendmail and /etc/rc.d/init.d/sendmail and edit the files to
stop it from running. But is there a cleaner way of doing this?

Thanks
