Hi there

we have been struggling with installing a Dell II 400 with an IBM 14.4 GB
Harddisk.

This machine is going to have 98, NT and RH5.2 on it.

We created a small Fat16 C-Drive, followed by an extended partition with 2
logical partitions, the first one being a 2 GB NTFS partition with NT installed
and then a 9 GB Fat32 partition with Windows 98 installed on it.

There is 2 GB left of unpartitioned space which we wanted to use for RH5.2.
We wanted to follow the instructions from the HOWTO's with not installing LILO
in the MBR but in the superblock of the partition with RH and then copy the
bootsector to the C-Drive and use NT boot loader to boot into linux (As taken
from bootpart).

The problem is that booting from the two floppies and going into fdisk, I
cannot seem to get it to find the free space to create the partition and the
swap.

Tried to give the boot process the harddisk parameters, but still no success.
The Howto's also said to leave the free space unpartitioned and use fdisk, but
fdisk doesn't see any free space, so i tried to create the partition with
Partition Magic 4.0, but still no success.

Any suggestions on how to get RH onto that 2GB partition?

 Primary Extended Free Space
|-------|-----------------------------|---------------|
  40MB 11GB 2GB

|-------|--------|--------------------|---------------|
  40MB 2GB 9GB 2GB

Here is what I could find about the harddrive:

Bytes per sector 512
