Making a DeskJet 320 print

Greetings.

Out of the box (since 4.2), I've never had any problem printing.
However, after I recently had to reinstall my system, I can no longer
print on my DJ 320. Now, I see in the printing HOWTO that it's not
supported with the printcap HP filters. I seem to remember (in my
FreeBSD days) that there used to be alternative filters for DeskJets.
Is there a particular one that is the best--which should I use? I'm not
sure what 4.2 originally installed/configured for me, because it always
worked and so I never looked.

I've tried using printtool to test print pages using each of the HP
filters, the PostScript filter, and the plain text filter--printer just
spews crap for each of these (ranging from "if this is all you see,
enable LF->CR/LF translation" (how?) to "no way to print this type of
input file: English text"). During class, I do a fair amount of PS
printing, so I need that support. Other than that, I'm not too
particular. Is there a special page for configuring HP printers? I
tried also to search the archives, but I got some kind of broker error
for archive.redhat.com.

Thanks in advance.

Jeff
