XFCE2 is a free, simple, easy-to-learn desktop environment that looks like
CDE. I have been using it for several months and have been very pleased with
it. It isn't a memory hog and is quite efficient. If you are looking around
for a windows manager, I suggest trying it out. It was simple to install and
setup. You can get info. and download it at
http://tsikora.tiac.net/xfce/en/index.html . I also suggest checking out
http://www.moongroup.com/unix/xfce2.html where you can fond out about the
mailing list.
