I finally took the plunge and backed-up everything from my RHL 4.2
setup and did a clean install of RHL from the official 5.2
PowerTools. Now my libc5 applications don't work anymore.

I followed the FAQ instructions on p. 338 of the manual and changed
the order of my /etc/ld.so.conf to:

/usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib
/usr/lib
/usr/X11R6/lib

and ran ldconfig

but I still get:

# ldd ezppp
        libX11.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6 (0x40000000)
        libc.so.5 => not found
        libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x4009b000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.1 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x00000000)

And similarly with netscape4.5 that I downloaded and had no problems
with under 4.2 (other than it taking up lots of memory :-).

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Dave
