Must say I've tried KDE, AfterStep, and Gnome.  Of the three I think
Gnome showed the most promise, KDE was ok but left me largely unimpressed.
AfterStep is also on the dull side.

Went back to XFCE2 for now.  Simple, small, clean, comfortable, easy
footprint on the system, and easy to configure the system menus, etc.
