I don't know if this is the right place for this, but here goes...

Does anyone know if it is possible and if so how to get an HP35480 DAT drive
to work under RedHat 5.1-

I installed an Adaptec 1505 scsi card, plugged in the drive and after
rebuilding the kernel etc my pentium based machine announced that it had
found the scsi card and that there was a HP35480 drive at address 0.

Commands like 'mt rewoffl' work ok and this particular command rewinds the
tape and ejects it.

Any attempt to execute a command that would access the tape i.e. read,
write, erase results in the tape fast forwarding the playing/recording then
rewinding and the second status light flashing yellow until the machine is
'power cycled'.

I get a message back from the command of 'I/O error'.

Thank you in hope

Ashley
