This is sort of correct.. It is not that the AMD K6 chips don't support
SMP, it is more that they support a different 'sort' of SMP.
There are actually 2 different 'sorts' of SMP, the one that Intel use on
their chips (support for which is availble on Dual Processor m/boards),
and the one that everyone else (Cyrix, AMD etc) uses on their chips.
Its been a while since I looked at this, but from memory, the Intel
standard is inferior to the one that everyone else uses, thus, no one else
wants to use it. There were rumors a while back that AMD was working in
conjunction with a m/board manufacturer to release a board that was
capable of using the AMD's in a dual processor configuration, but I am not
sure what ever became of this.
