GlennC,
I have a video card with the ATI Rage IIc chipset on it. In addition
to the ChipId and ChipRev options that I had to add to my XF86Config I
also had to add the following line in the display section of that file
to get XFree to work with my card.
Option "noaccel"
If you would like to see my XF86Config file send me an email and I will
reply to you with it attached. If disabling acceleration works for you
it won't be as fast as if the acceleration was enabled but at least it
will work. For whatever reason, I had to disable acceleration on my
machine to get XFree to work with my ATI video card. Oh, by the way
here are my specs in case you're wondering.
AMD-K6-2/300, Epox motherboard w/ 100MHz bus speed, 64M ram,
Expertcolor 4M AGP video w/ ATI RageIIc chipset, CTX1562GM monitor
Good luck,
Brandon Kolbe
