I did so on my box and it took me a while to get everything going
I have a P-II/333 with an Adaptech 2940UW and a Vibra 16 card attached
to a SCSI tape drive
First I compiled SCSI support as a module and compiled all the SCSI
(Disks/TAPE/CDROM/generice) as a module and also compiled low-level
drivers as modules
I also compiled sound as modules
I did the standard make dep ; make clean ; make zImage ; make modules ;
rm -rf /lib/modules/2.0.36 ; make modules_install ; make install
Editing lilo.conf, making initrd and running lilo
On reboot, whilst loading the aic7xxx module
I would get errors saying
/lib/modules unresolved symbols scsi_command_size
scsi_unregister_module
After many experiments, I could get the kernel to boot. If I installed
SCSI support and SCSI Disk and SCSI Tape as part of the kernel. How does
Redhat get their stock kernel to be completely modular
Also, when I tried to use sndconfig. It said that I hadn't compiled my
sound drivers as modules even though I had done so, could be that RH
patches the stock kernel for modular sound and SCSI support
Any idea where to get kernel-2.0.36.rpm from RH
