Is it possible for me to download the 2.0.36 kernel source from
ftp.kernel.org and compile it and use off my RH 5.2 Linux box?

I tried doing so and when I did a reboot, there was a message about some
missing 'signature file'. What have I done wrong?

Where can I get more information on the files located in the /boot
directory?

TIA
