I would not make a serious anti-spam effort with sendmail 8.8.7 (the
default MTA which comes with 5.1). I'd use sendmail 8.9.1-2 which is
available via rpm from sunsite.unc.edu.
The FAQ at http://www.sendmail.org is an excellent repository of
knowledge on this version and ORBS and the RBL can also help with
limiting relay access and/or connections to your box.
I am in the process of redoing my Moongroup site pointing squarely at
these issues. Those on the mailhelp list will see the changes first
<grin>!
