Please help me.
I have been able to get my modem to call, but I can't seem to establish a
connection.
Here are the instructions for setting a dial up connection using win95
(TCP/IP properties), I'm hoping someone will be able to explain how to set
it up in Linux. I'm using RH5.1.
Obtain an IP address automatically should be selected.
Disable WINS Resolution.
Gateway should be blank.
Enable DNS
Host:
entry can be anything
Domain entry:
nmsu.edu
DNS Server Search Order:
128.123.3.5
128.123.2.19
Domain Suffix Search Order:
nmsu
When I have dialed in with minicom, I receive the following prompts:
Username:
Password:
NMSU-NET> (here I enter "ppp" when using win95)
I then get a series of random characters going across the screen, at which
point I am suppose to press F7 to establish the connection.
When using win95, I have also been able to connect by just entering my
username and password in the boxes when starting the dailup connection.
Thanks for any help you may be able to give
Kent
