Finally I upgraded my laptop from RedHat 4.1 to 5.1 (yes, I know that
5.2 is out, but I prefer the next-to-last version of nontrivial
software). Everything went fine, except that I can't use my sound
card any more.
I am using a custom-configured kernel using exactly the same
configuration as previously. I have basic sound support plus
SoundBlaster and FM synthesis. But when I try to use the sequencer
interface, e.g. by running "playmidi", I get the following error
message in the system log file:
kernel: Soundcard: sequencer not configured
I can't find any "sequencer" entry in the configuration menu, so what
am I supposed to do?
