module problems after kernel compile

I recompiled my kernel. It went reasonably smooth but now when I boot I am
getting the following errors during startup:
Finding module dependencies /lib/modules/2.0.32/net/3c59x.o: unresolved
symbol(s)
and later on during boot:
Starting PCMCIA services: modules/lib/modules/2.0.32/pcmcia/i82356.o:
/lib/modules/2.0.32/pcmcia/i82356.o: no such file or directory
I assume that its telling me that I don't have these object files in the
correct place. Is that something that should have been done automatically
during the kernel compile or do I need to copy the newly compiled module
files to some directory (like I had to do with the vmlinuz file). If I am
supposed to do this manually, where do I find the newly compiled object
files and where should I move them to?
As I am sure you can tell, this is the first time I have done a kernel
compile so any help will be greatly appreciated.
TIA,
Dave
