The idea that using a GPL compiler or libraries commits you to place
your code under the GPL is incorrect, but a common misconception. It
needs to be debunked at any opportunity.

Your code comes under terms of the GPL basically by one of two processes.

1. You choose to place original works under the terms of the GPL as a
contribution to the free software community.

2. Your work is _derived_ from code which has been placed under the
    terms of the GPL.

Use of the gcc compiler and other Gnu utilities does not change your
copyright privledges. Also note that the terms of the Gnu libraries
copyright specifically states that your proprietary code may be compiled
with and require the use of those libraries without modification to your
copyright.
