People prefer the RedHat sites because:

1) the mirrors inevitably lag in getting new files
2) they don't want to bother trying a mirror, ie normal human lazyness

People SHOULD prefer a mirror of Redhat because:

1) the mirrors are easier to connect to
2) a mirror on your part of the internet is faster than Redhat

There are NO REPORTS of trojans, etc. from Redhat OR its official mirrors.
We would know about it here, because the victim would report it.
I would worry more about other sites.

The chances of my computer catching a disease from
RedHat's sites or its official mirrors are about the same
as Toby Herring winning Cindy Crawford using FUD.

I never download from untrusted sites.
I trust Redhat and its official mirrors.
