Hi,
I'm trying to upgrade a box that has RH 5.0 installed on it originally.
However, I'm running into problems when the kernel is loading. Its an
older machine (IBM PS/Valupoint).
The error I get is:
crc errorVFS: Cannot open root device 08:22
kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:22
This is booting from a boot floppy off a CD I made. I thought perhaps the
CD was corrupt so I downloaded the image from Redhat's ftp site tonight
and get the same sort of error.
I've got a Future Domain SCSI card in this machine and see its only listed
as Tier 2 supported. Anyone else have this sort of problems with Future
Domain cards? I'd like to believe that I've ruled out having a bad floppy
(used three different floppys, none of which show bad blocks and I've
redownloaded the boot.img). I'm thinking it might not be seeing my SCSI
drive because the card drivers aren't getting loaded right.
Any thoughts? Please email me with specific suggestions.
Thanks,
Kevin
