Certain ethernet cards are dogs, especially the 8-bit ones (that fill only
half the ISA slot), but that is probably not it.
There were w95 updates you can download to fix the original
w95 winsock.dll and other networking files. They need 5 reboots.
Since w95 is not shipping any more, maybe they pulled the updates too.
Check that the default protocol is tcp to ethernet, not tcp to dialup in w95.
There was also an MTU size issue with w95, and there was a way to edit
the registry to change MTU and MRU to give it better performance.
Or you could buy a program for $50 to change the registry setting.
Perhaps a newer Netscape for w95..., or a Linux on the w95 box.
It's also possible the cable to the w95 box is too close to a TV, or has
a loose connection, especially if you are using BNC coax cables.
Do you have any pets? Our pet rabbits liked to eat the rubber off
lamp cords and blow fuses, quite happily. I guess they kept
their teeth dry and their lips and tongue back. Who says rabbits are stupid.
