StarOffice installation woes!

Hello,
Did anyone ever post the solution to the StarOffice problem? I note that the
wrappers that I downloaded failed in install because it was looking for
something in my /tmp directory....Also, it appears to be for the star offic 4.0
only.
What is the solution here, with the mouse, kbd and such freezing, and even ssh
ing into my box and killing everything did nothing. Actually, shutdown -r now
did not even budge the thing (all night I left it to studown and it didn't).
Help would be wonderful.
