Has anyone been able to run the VNC (Virtual Network Computing) server
on RedHat 5.2? I have no trouble on my RedHat 5.1 system, but installed
it the other day on a RedHat 5.2 system, and it won't run. Bascially,
the "vncserver" command fails. I looked, and vncserver is a Perl script.
The error message (don't have it right here to look at right now) seems
to indicate that something is different in the Perl that is included
with RedHat 5.2, when it comes to the sockets interface.
If you aren't familiar with VNC, see http://www.orl.co.uk/vnc/ - it is
an excellent way of viewing your RedHat desktop from a Windows client,
or running Linux-to-Linux for that matter, or even for viewing a Win95
desktop under Linux. It's a pretty neat alternative to a conventional X
server.
Thanks for any hints!
