Never seen this before, but now it happens for the third time this month
on one of my boxes. Sometimes, when I copy large files from the CDROM
drive to anywhere (even /dev/null will do) the following gets dumped
into /var/log/messages:
kernel: hdc: irq timeout: status=0x50 { DriveReady SeekComplete }
At the same time I hear hdc spinning down for a short time, then it
starts up again, and works normally. This only happens when accessing
the CDROM, never when just the HD-s are working.
hda and hdc are 4.3G Quantum EIDE drives, hdb is a somewhat old Sony 4x
CDROM drive. Any ideas?
cheers,
Laszlo
