Update: Now up and running 5.2, 2.0.36 SMP....
Love 5.2 -- seems to be a quite nice version and look
forward to doing LOTS with it!

FYI, my install problems were:

1) /var/tmp was a symbolic link to /usr/var/tmp but
when installing, /mnt/var/tmp pointed to /usr/var/tmp
which did NOT exist.... This would cause a Sig11 when
     installing packages (after 2-3 packages).

2) If the RPM database is corrupted you might get a Sig11 when
the install is trying to determine the packages to upgrade.
This WAS noted in the FAQ referencing 4.x->5.2, but
it also applies to a corrupted 5.x RPM database. In my
case the RPM database had been built with the version
     of RPM from 5.2!

The kernel compiles and other work on this machine seem OK (as they
did prior to the upgrade), so chances are that I do NOT have
a memory or hardware problem!

The install software should check for adequate space in
/ and /usr, as well as checking for writable /tmp and /var/tmp
PRIOR to starting the upgrade. The install software should
also handle rebuilding a corrupted database without killing
the install process. This should also be referenced in the
manual.

Thanks,
