I HAD my ppa zip drive operating fine not too long ago but
recently have run into a snag. I upgraded my mobo and CPU
and since then, as far as I can tell (I rarely use the zip
drive) the problem started subsequent.

I had a functional zip drive icon on my KDE desktop but that
failed as well, though that is not the subject of this post.
The problem I am having is that only as root can I mount my
zip drive when before this was not the case...and I have
made NO software changes. This is what I get when I try to
mount my zip drive as a user, bu first running "insmod ppa"
from a terminal:

[patrick@wormhole3 patrick]$ /sbin/insmod ppa
/lib/modules/preferred/scsi/ppa.o: create_module: Operation not
permitted

Doing precisely the same thing as root is no problem. I have checked
the
permission on insmod and on ppa.o and both are in order for users to
be able to use them. The applicable part of my fstab is as follows
(for mounting either msdos or ext2 zip disks):

/dev/sda4 /mnt/dozip	msdos user,noauto	0 0
/dev/sda4 /mnt/e2zip	ext2 user,noauto	0 0

What is the problem? Any ideers?
