Setting resource limits on Redhat 5.1

I read some of the PAM documentation on the pam_limits module. It is
mentioned that support for resource limits should be compiled in the
kernel. Do stable kernels (2.0.36) have the option and if so where, since
I don't recall seeing anything like that?
