Hey out there,
I thought all you folks who hadn't seen this would appreciate this
article.
http://www.nytimes.com/library/tech/98/11/biztech/articles/18sun.html
excerpt
"Java potentially allows developers to write a software program once
and
have it run on a wide variety of computers, regardless of the
underlying
operating system. That is a threat to Microsoft's control over
the direction
of software development." By STEVE LOHR (NYTimes)
Glad to see that companies are challenging M$ for pieces of the big
pie. I've used windows for years and I am a brand new (1 week or so)
linux user, still reading the docs, howtos, info pages, websites, the 3
books I have on my desk, etc, etc 8- ).
So I may be back to ask newbie-ish type questions so please bear with
me. It isn't that I don't want to read the manual, archives etc., it's
what to read in the manual, et al.
The volume of information available is somewhat intimidating, but I plan
to wade through
a lot of it before I post silly questions, with easy to find answers.
.....enjoy

Brain- "Pinky, are you pondering what I am pondering?".
Pinky- "I think so Brain, but if it was only supposed to be a three hour
tour why
did the howell's bring all their money?".
