Hi, there.
I need to be able to set up a printer (several, actually) in such a way that
at the beginning of every print job, the server "prints" an escape sequence
(PCL code) to the printer before the job actually goes, and another sequence
(reset) after the job finishes.
Does anyone know of a way to do this with the filters that are pre-installed
with RH 5.2? Or possibly an alternative print filtering system that would
allow this, or possibly make it easier or more dynamic. (So I wouldn't have
to set up a separate "virtual printer" for each paper tray that I need to
use, but have the filter dynamically select based on content.)
Also, let me state up front that I am NOT a true programmer. I just do some
debugging and minor feature modifications. I'm not familiar with
programming bash scripts, so if it can be done with the "standard" filters,
please provide me with a snippet of code.
Thanks.
