               Monday, August 28, 1995, 7:30 P.M.
                    New User Clinic, 7:00 P.M.

Peter Schulz, PCX Software

Our August meeting will feature Peter Schulz, President of
PCX, who will tell us about their line of backup and file
transfer software and tape backup hardware.

BackupWiz is a SCSI backup software package for OS/2, DOS,
Netware, and Citrix. The OS/2 version fully supports OS/2
features such as extended attributes, long file names, and
HPFS files. BackupWiz supports a wide variety of SCSI tape
drives.

LinkWiz provides high speed, high volume file transfer
between computers using the parallel or serial ports. It can
be used in batch mode as well as interactively to automate
repetitive file transfers. LinkWiz's unique Clone Disk Dump
feature allows youto dump an entire OS/2 disk, including boot
sector, to a single disk file. This file can be copied to tape
and/or restored to the same or another computer, making
the computer operational within minutes. Versions of LinkWiz
exist for Unix and DOS as well as OS/2, and all versions
interoperate. Peter will also demonstrate PCX`s PortaTape
backup system. PortaTape is a family of portable SCSI tape
backup systems for OS/2, with capacities ranging from 250MB
to 10GB and featuring backup speeds from 6 MB/min to over
30 MB/min when using a high-speed, bi-directional printer
port.

Admission is free to members of the OS/2 Bay Area User
Group. Nonmember registration fee is $3, or you may sign up
for membership at the door for $25 for one year.

Directions to SLAC: Take the Sand Hill Road East exit off
I-280. The second traffic light after the one at the
interchange is the entrance to SLAC. Turn right. Stop at the
guard house and tell the guard that you are going to the
OS/2 Bay Area User Group meeting. The Auditorium is in the
central area of the complex and is the building straight
ahead of you when you are at the guard house.
