GTEK (http://www.gtek.com), a provider of serial io cards, has
developed an OS/2 device Driver for its SMARTCARD8 io card. This card
is an intelligent 8 port RS-232 io card. The card has an onboard 8051
processor and 32k bytes (expandable to 128K bytes) of buffer memory.
Serial conections are provided via DB45 connectors. Data rates to 115k
are supported.
The software is free and is available via ftp at gtek.com in the
directory /pub/Smartcard8. Get the file OS2.readme, files mentioned in
OS2.readme, and all other files in the directory with name matching
the pattern '*os2*'.
Note. The device driver as written uses 1 selectable IRQ. I'm pretty
sure that a device driver could be written using no IRQ's by polling
the card at regular intervals (because of the large onboard data
buffer).
The Smartcard8 lists for ~800 (Qty 1). I have an earlier version of
this card called the 8f.
