Syntegration Introduces TRAVELING WORKPLACE Evaluation edition
CHINO, CALIFORNIA, Nov. 13, 1995 -- SYNTEGRATION announces the availability
of a 30 day evaluation edition of its newest product, TRAVELING WORKPLACE.
This useful tool can backup, restore, create and manage OS/2 workplace
images.
You can download an evaluation copy from SYNTEGRATION'S world wide web site
at "http://www.primenet.com/~syntegrn". Compuserve members can also access
the evaluation edition from the OS2AVEN forum. The filename is TWP100.ZIP.
Traveling Workplace greatly enhances your ability to manage OS/2 workplace
images or desktops through the use of intuitive features. In addition to
workplace image management, the product includes tools that lets you
selectively backup and restore individual workplace objects.
Traveling Workplace allows you to backup a desktop on one workstation and
restore it on another. With this capability, users can easily move from one
workstation to another and still use their own desktop. Furthermore, the
product lets you customize the restore procedure to enable portability
between workstations with different hardware.
Traveling Workplace is very fast. When images are stored on a hard disk you
can typically backup in about 15 seconds and restore workplaces in only 25
seconds.
When you want different desktops for each user, Traveling Workplace lets you
create and maintain up to 36 on-line desktops per workstation. The product
can immediately switch between these resident workplace images without
rebooting your workstation. Switching is even faster than restoring.
Network administrators can use Traveling Workplace to provide different
desktops for each user or user group and manage them without taking a trip
to the workstation. This is accomplished by storing workplace images on a
network server. The command line interface is optimized to allow you to
perform all tasks without user interference. With these capabilities you can
integrate the product into the log-on and log-off scripts of your network
operating system.
Traveling Workplace automatically saves the files that define the settings
and icons on an OS/2 desktop. Additional files can be selected and saved
with the workplace image. These additional files will then be recovered when
an archive set is restored. Images can be saved on a floppy drive, local
hard drive or network file server.
Traveling workplace include additional workplace shell object utilities.
These are called Object Manager and Object Editor.
The Object Manager lets you selectively query, save, and update the settings
of the workplace objects on your desktop. You can also delete objects the
shredder cannot delete.
The Object Editor utility is used to create, update, or delete one or more
workplace objects. This utility edits and restores objects saved by the
Object Manager. The object editor lets you bypass REXX programming for
hands-off object management.
To use Traveling Workplace you need at least A 386SX or higher PC or PS/2
with OS/2 Version 2.1 or higher. All versions of OS/2 WARP are supported.
Traveling Workplace is included when you purchase The Secure Workplace for
OS/2 enterprise edition.
Choose SYNTEGRATION products and enjoy world class quality and unbeatable
technical support.
TRAVELING WORKPLACE can be ordered through retail channels in the U.S.,
Canada and Europe or can be ordered directly from SYNTEGRATION. The cost is
US$59.95. Those ordering THE SECURE WORKPLACE for OS/2 ENTERPRISE EDITION
(which includes TRAVELING WORKPLACE) pay US$350 for a five-station license
fee.
